We had a beautiful weekend. Turned the air off Saturday night after getting home from a get together at a friends house. I was actually getting chilly sitting outside. AC went back on last night as hot temps are coming back. I'm treasuring the warmth as I know Old Man Winter is just around the corner. Yuk!!! I need a Hawaii fix to look forward to but money and vacay time are in short supply. Had to take a regular job and no longer make my own hours. Cancelled shifts don't pay the bills. Have a great day everyone.

Hawaii is my happy place. I never stop dreaming about it. TJ

Hey Dude. I say the same thing about winning the lottery and moving to Hawaii. Trouble is, ya gotta buy the dang ticket to win and I don't always go buy the ticket.
Today is in the mid 90's but the humidity was only 46% at 1:30. I'll still take hot over cold and snow. I hope the snow king only gives us just enough to avoid a draught. Stay cool everyone.

It topped out at about 96 today with a heat index of 109 F.
Good thing that I was working under a huge Linden tree and nice breeze.

The month of July brought more rain than we've seen since moving here but August has brought us heavier rain everyday so far.
The rest of the country is going through a heatwave and David and Pinky is getting the worst of it today. Records are being broken!

Was hot again yesterday, with very loud storms that rushed through at about 3 am today. It dumped 1 3/4 inches of rain on us in just about 30 minutes. Pretty hot today it seemed but only 80. There is a difference between here and in the islands. It must be the cooling ocean breezes that make the difference.

Just 70-80 miles north of us got 5 to 6 inches.
In Omaha, they had a real hail storm. Pictures on the TV this morning, showed two hailstones next to a baseball and they were bigger than it was. Lot's of damage to cars especially in the open car lot's.

We are discovering that August is not the best month to visit here because of the combination of the trades bringing in lots of clouds and heavy rains at times but also very high tempertures too. We are suppose to get up into the low 90's here today.
This causes lightning strikes that is causing our wildfires and the strong hot trades fanning the flames here. One of the top stories here this morning is the Kehalani Fire in Maui county and even as I type this post, the sun is rising and there is a haze and the smell of smoke from a nearby brushfire somewhere.
I took the kids to Sandy's yesterday and could see the island of Molokai and Maui again. So I would not be surprised that the haze and smoke is coming from there.
Well,as I typed this post and watching the local news, they have a car-b-q going on Kam Hwy that has triggered a small brushfire and that could be what I'm smelling right now. The wind is coming from that direction also and would explain the morning haze. Boy,do we need some good rains to put these fires out and get our rainfall levels up to normal.
I also just saw on the news that the whole country seems to be experiencing a massive heatwave all the way to the upper east coast of the U.S. Dude is not going to be very happy with the temps going into the high 90's and low 100's. So maybe a quick vacation here would be ideal right now if you have a heatwave knocking you down where you live.

Today, when I woke up,it was very windy and hot like the Santa Ana winds of California with the only difference is that the firebugs didn't come out and that is such a relief about living here. There was a sudden down pour on the H-1 when I was on my way to Tripler and many cars spun out on the freeway on both sides just before the Pali Hwy. It's looking real nice outside right now in the afternoon. I hope everyone has a very nice day and enjoy the warm weather while you still can.

Thanks Todd, but not too much nice about 99 degrees, no breeze and heat index of 115 degrees, like it was here today.

The sign said.............. sure when did signs learn to talk?
Anyone, it was 101 degrees, with a heat index of 115 or more.

Naw, Todd, in just 4 or 5 months, I'll post new ones.

Hot, dry summers bring the cicada's or common name locust. This year is no exception. Between the hundreds or thousands that sing their song when the sun goes down and the little tree frogs.......... the sound is deafening. Willie steps out of the back door and says "what did you say? I don't think so".

I will still take that sound over the ones of fire engines, ambulances and police cars any day.

I still like to wake to Woody, pecking on the telephone pole in the morning.

Guess that means, as changing of the seasons is sometimes a torture, it is still pretty much a quiet change.

A bit "muggy". We had 4 inches of rain in the last 24 hours.
    Lot's of flooding again.
Temps in the 80's has made it feel a bit steamy outside.

It is 60 something out now but supposed to dip to 51 tonight.
That will happen just before the dawn like usual.
51 is a bit cool compared to Maui but the high tomorrow will be in the lower 80's, so much like it is there.

The only difference I feel is that the sand holds the temp overnight so when we do our beach stroll at sunrise, it feels nice and warm at 65.
Already, I can hardly wait until November.
    I Love it so there.
