    Aloha Ivonka,
Welcome to our ohana travel forum. You will find that many of the ohana here eager to answer all of your questions and help you with your travel plans. I hope you keep coming back and adding more posts. The Hawaiian Monarch was built in 1979 and really hasn't been remodeled since. Some of the owners of units have remodeled their units out of their pockets but you would be lucky if those would be in the hotel pool.(Managed by the hotel for a fee.)
I don't know what you are calling a good deal but I'm sure that you could do much better at www.discounthotelshawaii.com and tell Hector that Todd referred you. I just found something that you may want to read about this hotel and I will post it below. I don't like this hotel because it doesn't have lanai's and I can't breathe unless it does. Check this out.

Hello Jenny from the other side of the globe. Yes, what I was trying to point out was this place would be like my 31st choice and not my first. There are some really good deals if you know where to find them, so I asked the locals in Hawaii and I was turned on to this website. This guy can get you good deals on short notice and even has an after hours service for when you've had too much to drive and are willing to take any room.
He book me into a hotel that I've never been to,high floor and everything but no lanai. I just can't breathe if I can't step outside for fresh air and within ten minutes, had me booked into a better hotel for the same price and I've been a big fan ever since. It's hard to find that kind of service from the travel industry anymore and if you find a good thing, stick with it.

    Aloha Kitty,
Welcome to our ohana forum and we look forward to many more posts from you. I stayed at the Hilton Hawaiian Village a few years ago and it was the most wonderful place to stay. It's hard to find anything better.

The Hilton Hawaiian is a really nice place to stay but it is not a cheap place. I usually stay right across the field from the Hilton Hawaiian.

Oh man, I just love Hilton Hawaiian Village in so many ways. The rooms have such an awesome view of Waikiki and I had got some coupon in the mail from them and my condo was only like $239 a night at the time. I have no idea how much it would cost today to stay there.

I am a beef man but since I have been on a strict bland diet, even chicken wings would sound good if they could have some seasonings on them

Hi, taking a vacation in Hawaii is the kind of thing many of us dream about. It is filled with great and cheap hotels like Hawaiian Monarch Hotel -a Budget Hotel in 44-story building on Waikiki's western end, overlooking Ala Wai Canal and i think this is a good option also.

    Hello,

You are right these hotels are really cheap from others .Honolulu is an epicenter of art, history, and everything in between. Nestled in the beautiful island of Oahu, Honolulu is rich in culture, from the historic buildings to the beautiful palaces to the local artwork. For those who love nature, taking in Oahu's beauty from Koolau Mountains will be a moment you won't forget. The Iolani Palace, Hawaii State Art Museum, Bishop Museum, and Kawaiahao Church are must-see sites in Honolulu.Aston Waikiki Beach Hotel,Hawaii Prince Hotel Waikiki hotels are some cheap hotels out there.

    thanks!!

A number of years ago, we stayed at the Ocean Resort. It was a stop over visit so just one night.
Due to the rate, it is used by a number of young visitors. We were upgraded to a penthouse room which was great.

Now that my "L" key is working again, I may not sound so much like an idiot
Do you have any idea how many words there are that include the L? Anyhow, got it fixed......

Did you notice that this is one of the fastest growing threads we have seen lately? It shows the interest in "cheap hotels". I don't really care for the term cheap so use "value" or "good value", "cost conscious", budget, or something like that. I use the word "cheap" in different ways other than to describe affordable accommodations.
    Okay so much for that.

In your mind, what would the number be that you are looking for, as something affordable for you?
$59, $79, $100, $150 or more per night? You are anonymous so don't be shy in finding lodging you can afford, so let us know and we will be very honest and more precise in our comments. Remember, affordable means a lot of different things to a lot of different people.
