    Default Two days on Kauai

During our cruise in April we will be on Kauai for two days. I have a rough idea of what we are going to do. Any suggestions or advise would be appriciated.

On the first morning we plan on stopping at Wailus falls. We are going to hike to the bottom if there hasn't been any rain. After a dip in the collecting pool we are going to Hanalei bay. I think I would like to surf there. We will get lunch somewhere (Suggestions?) and then head to Kee Beach. May stay until sundown and then drive back. Dinner at Dukes and then back to to boat.

The second morning we are going up with Blue Hawaiian Helicopters. After that over to Poipu Beach. At some point drive to Koloa for lunch and ice cream at Lappert's.

    Tell me what you think.

I think you have more than a rough plan. It looks great to me!

I will suggest Tropical Taco in Hanalei for a casual lunch. I'm sure Dude will suggest Bubba's Burgers.

You could add Kilauea Lighthouse and bird sanctuary to your first day. Worth a stop if time allows.

Spouting Horn and Lawai beach, both near Koloa are worth checking out.

But your plans are right on, IMO. Except, you will be planning your next trip to Kaua'i as soon as you leave.

Looking forward to hearing about your cruise!

Pat knows me too well!!!!! I would have suggested a Bubba Burger lunch, it is a tradition when I go to Kauai! Hossierdaddy made my choice for dinner at Dukes!!!! Great choice!!!!!! Too bad you will only have 2 days on Kauai, there are so many fantastic things to see on that island.

I never recommend people swim in fresh water in Hawaii due to Leptospirosis. Just do a little research and then decide if it's worth the risk. Some people are ok with it, for me it's not worth it.

Surfing at Hanalei in April can be excellent. If you've never surfed before a lesson is a must. Hawaiian surfing adventures gives out daily lessons and rents out boards at the Pier in Hanalei.

For lunch Hanalei has several nice choices. Polynesian cafe and Hanalei Dolphin are nice. The Mediterranean gourmet on the way to Kee in Haena is also nice. I personally don't like Bubba's that much but if you feel like a burger why not.

Kee is a bit of a tourist trap. If you also plan on doing some hiking along the first section of the Kalalua trail that begins at Kee then it's a great choice. If not, go to Tunnels beach instead. Better chance for calm snorkeling conditions in April vs Kee. But Kee does have spectacular sunsets (starting in April when the sun clears the mountains).

If you weren't going up for a heli ride I would have recommended a drive to the Waimea Canyon on day 2. But the heli tour will give you some awesome views. Don't forget a camera.

I do like the view of the Napali Coast from the Waimea Canyon end. I still need to do some hiking from that end of the canyon. I did the hike along Napali Coast from the North Shore and it was very nice. I usually take the catamaran trip from the WAimea Canyon end of the coast. Awesome trip!!!! It really doesn't matter which trip you take though, it will be a great day! Hoosierdaddy you will have one of the best things to do on the island of Kauai when you do that helicopter tour. Definitely one of the best things to do on the island. Plus it will allow you to see all areas of the island so that when your addiction to Kauai starts you will know where to go on your next trip!!!!
